Knock Knock July 2012 to December 2013 Academic Planner, Blue, 6 x 8 Inches (11185)
Weekly Academic Planner is destined to take backpacks by storm! Crackerjack scheduler allows students to organize their weeks for a full 18 months, and also keep track of classes and exams. A zippered pouch corrals doodads, while checkbox prompts add a dash of levity for stressed scholars. Perfect for academics of all stripes and ages. At Knock Knock our sensibility is proudly distinct, in contrast to the overwhelming homogenization of committee-created corporate product. We believe that many people are intelligent enough to appreciate wit, wordplay, and conceptual thinking, so we strive not to dumb down as we create. Our customers comprise the impish, the dapper, the droll, the young-at-heart, those who prefer the humor of the truth to false feel-good affirmations. On the highfalutin front, Knock Knock seeks to integrate art and commerce by creating original, authentic, non-cynical products. Our inspirations are Charles and Ray Eames and Tibor Kalman, designers who refused compartmentalization and brought intelligence, aesthetics, and creativity to everything they touched. Our unifying force is sensibility and we channel that into designing and manufacturing original products. Also, we read a lot. Following are a few things we believe: Ethics and decency are immeasurably important. Whether mass produced or handmade, products should be created with care. Craft is important for the soul as well as the hands and eyes. Art is not necessarily superior to craft. Humor makes everything better. Not everything should strive to be accessible to the lowest common denominator, or any common denominator, for that matter. Despite the rise of the screen, much that is interesting and innovative can be done with printed matter, though paper should be recycled whenever possible. Good should be rewarded. Problems should be discussed and resolved. Mistakes should be admitted and learned from. Common sense is uncommon. Ego is annoying. Turn signals should be used.

[6-22-2011] - Over Beers
Nothing a pint or two won’t cure

Every wednesday night I get together with a group of friends for a trivia night at a local bar. It’s great fun and the perfect way to break up the mundane nature of the work week. We have been on a recent hot streak of late, winning four weeks in a row. Hopefully we can keep the streak alive as it really helps keep the tab down, as each victory knocks 35 dollars off the bill.

This image was taken at a post-trivia celebration at Shorty’s, a Coney Island themed bar and pinball arcade in the Belltown neighborhood of Seattle. The glare on the table makes it a bit hard to tell, but the table is an old converted pinball machine. If I remember correctly the one we where sitting at was a USA vs. Canada hockey theme.

Day 292

Day 292
Went to my brother’s hockey game today, saw some kid get knocked out so bad he had to be taken away on a stretcher to the hospital. Then we met up with Damien & his family and went out to eattt. As much as I hate younger people, these two are alright….sometimes.
